Westville Christian Church
Site Concept, Mathews,VA
The historic Westville Christian Church, located on Main Street in the heart of downtown Mathews, Virginia, dates back to 1859. Land Studio was asked to submit a design solution for an overgrown front lawn and entry. The plan provided a simple vision, which respected the site’s historic character while accommodating its modern-day use, and not overwhelming the site with high maintenance plantings and design solutions. Recommendations were made including removal of the existing plant material, which had become unmanageable, and replacement with more accommodating plantings. Hardscape amenities included brick landings, benches and lighting. Church members voted and commissioned Land Studio's layout among several submittals.
